As Hirani prepares to unveil a new set of promos of 3 Idiots we ask him… There are some unique buttock chairs for the 3 Idiots in the new promos? After his recent success with All The Best, director Rohit Shetty is set to start Golmaal 3. Although Rohit is still finalising the film’s script, its star cast is already in place with Sanjay Dutt being the new entrant in the series. Sanjay, apparently, has agreed to be a part of the multi-starrer. A source reveals, “Rohit and Ajay Devgan mutually decided to first go ahead with Golmaal 3. The male actors in the film will be more or less the same as the earlier two Golmaal films with Ajay, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, though Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi will not be a part of it. Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Mugdha Godse are also being considered to star in Golmaal 3.” “The film will go on the floors in April next year and the actors have been asked to give the required dates. The film will be shot at an international location,” adds the source. Rohit says, “I’m still in the scripting process. Nothing has been finalised yet. Once my script is ready, we will proceed with the rest of the work.” When asked about Sanjay also being a part of the film, he says, “How many stars are you going to give me? That’s too big a star cast. I can’t have 12-14 stars in my film. That Sanjay is now part of the film is not true. Once I finish the script, we will make an announcement.” The official spokesperson from producers Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision says, “Golmaal 3 is still in the planning stage. We aim to start the shooting in March.”

It’s a boy for Perizaad

Perizaad Zorabian is on cloud nine as her wish has come true. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 11.30 am yesterday.
After marrying Boman Irani in 2006, Perizaad had their first child, a daughter named Zaha, in November 2007. When Mumbai Mirror broke the news of her second pregnancy earlier this year in July, Perizaad had said, “Daughters are darlings and I have experienced that. Now I want to experience what it is like to have a son.” The baby boy was born at Lilavati Hospital, Bandra. Perizaad’s friend said, “It was a caesarean delivery. Perizaad and Boman took the Hindu and Parsi calendars into account and settled on an auspicious date for the caesarean operation to be carried out. Perizaad is very happy. Her family is now complete. The couple has shortlisted a few names for their newborn son.” Confirming the news, Perizaad’s manager said, “Perizaad has delivered a baby boy. She and the newborn are doing fine.” |
After brief roles in a couple of Bollywood films, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh is now a script advisor for a Bengali film in which he is also acting. “This film is about a struggle between the landless and the land grabbers, the haves and the have-nots. The entire story of the film is very topical considering today’s situation in West Bengal,” says Singh.
Jaya Prada is producing the film and is also playing the lead role in Sesh Sanghat (The Last Conflict) while Singh plays the role of an ex-minister in Bengal who sympathises with the tribal movement and guides an honest cop, played by Jackie Shroff, in dealing with the land agitation issue. Singh has no intention of changing his profession permanently and says, “I certainly don’t want to stick to acting. I am an avid movie buff so I cannot say no to actors whom I have grown up watching. Moreover, since Jaya is very closely associated to me and my party, how could I have said no to her?” National award-winning director Ashok Viswanathan said, “Amarji assisted us in the script as he is playing a retired minister and there was quite a bit of technical and official language used in the film which he helped us with. He also helped us in understanding the issue of land acquisition and industrialisation versus tribal rights.” |

1-800-LOVE, Abbas Tyrewalas’s next film after Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na is nearly complete, but you will see no sign of it till July 2010. And that’s because Abbas wants to make sure that the magic of the lucky July week that worked with Jaane Tu… holds true for 1-800-LOVE too. Jaane Tu was released in July last year and was a sensational success. Abbas now plans to release all his films in July and is convinced that they’ll work. Surprisingly, 1-800-LOVE’s producer is willing to bear the mounting costs of the post-production delay. “I guess I’m lucky,” Abbas says. “Even though the shoot is done and there’s just one song left, my producer is with me in the decision to release the film in the same week as Jaane Tu… Actually, I would love to release 1-800-LOVE on July 4, the same date as Jaane Tu… but it isn’t a Friday.” They are to choose between July 2 and 9, 2010, as the release date. “And if I had my way, I would release all my films in the same week, depending on how accommodating my producers are in the future.” And as we wonder if we can pass this off as superstition, Abbas protests, “Look, even otherwise, the first quarter of 2010 is clogged with exams and other stuff. I would rather release my films when schools and colleges are shut because they are the audience for all my films.” Just for Abbas’s information both schools and colleges in Mumbai re-open by July.” |
Acid attack on Hirani’s car

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has been a victim of vandalism. On Sunday afternoon, Raju found that acid had been poured on his precious white Honda Accord. The bizarre attack left the boot of the car and the side door charred. What’s more shocking is that his car was attacked in broad daylight. Our source said, “These days, Raju has been editing 3 Idiots from 9am till night at producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s office in Santacruz. On Sunday afternoon, Raju was informed that his car’s boot and a side door have been completely charred. A shocked Raju immediately rushed to his car to check the damages.” A police complaint has been registered. “Raju has had a fixed schedule since the last few days for the post-production of 3 Idiots. Police are investigating whether it is an accident or foul play. Since construction work is going on nearby, they haven’t ruled out the possibility of a prank,” added the source. Of course, such damage can be heart wrenching. A source close to Raju confirmed the news and said, “Raju is heartbroken and worried. After the police investigation, the car has now been sent to the garage. He is waiting for the investigation results.” Raju Hirani remained unavailable for comment. |

The hotheaded Nana Patekar fought with his closest friend, director Prakash Jha, while they were shooting together in Bhopal for Rajneeti. On Wednesday afternoon, the two had a serious fight on the sets following which Nana walked out of the sets. Since then, all attempts by Jha to convince Nana and cool him down have been in vain. A source from the sets said, “No one knows what exactly happened because of which Nana completely lost his cool. The two were discussing some scenes when an argument ensued as Nana had a different take on the scenes while Prakash Jha had another opinion on how to shoot them. The discussion soon turned into a long and heated argument and eventually led to a big fight.” According to the source, the fight turned ugly and abusive in front of the entire unit and it reached a stage where Nana grabbed Prakash Jha’s collar. However, better sense prevailed and Nana stormed off the sets and reached his hotel room from where he booked his tickets to Mumbai. In the evening, Prakash Jha called up Nana to placate him but he refused to budge. All attempts by unit members to convince Nana not to go to Mumbai failed and Nana is in no mood to shoot for the film. Commenting on Nana’s remaining portions in Rajneeti, another source said, “Many vital scenes with Nana still have to be shot and Prakash Jha is worried about what will happen next. Whatever happens, Nana has sworn that he won’t work with Jha again.” Jha confirmed the news that he and Nana had a serious quarrel on Wednesday after which Nana stormed out of the sets. “But this is not the first time that Nana has done this, or is it? Difference of opinions toh hote hi rehte hain. He still has to shoot for the film. I don’t know if he doesn’t want to work with me anymore. You’ll have to ask him because he hasn’t said so to me.” Nana Patekar remained unavailable for comment. |
