Anil Kapoor can’t stop beaming thanks to his spanking new golden yellow vanity bus delivered to the Slumdog Millionaire actor two days ago. Anil’s prized possession is currently the talk of the film industry.
The 42-feet-long vanity bus with the registration plate MH-04 TRA 135 took a year to be made. Done up by leading car designer Dilip Chhabria’s son Bonny Chhabria, the interiors are done in mahogany wood with the upholstery being in shades of beige and ivory. The bus is made by the Tatas and has been assembled on an imported chassis.
The bus is primarily divided into an office space with ivory leather sofas. There is ample legroom and a designated office space for Anil’s secretary with computer monitors, laptops, a worktable, television and all the requisite amenities.
The inner room is a makeup-cum-lounge area that is the star’s private place. A huge LED mirror runs from the floor almost to the ceiling of the bus right across which stands a sofa-cum-bed. An additional moving chair can also be placed in this room should Anil wish to sit closer to the mirror.
There are two bathrooms in the bus; the one outside at the entrance of the office space specifically for visitors, while Anil’s own bathroom is more spacious and has a shower as well.
Dilip Chhabria says it took Bonny and him almost a year to design the bus because Anil was constantly in and out of the country post Slumdog Millionaire and he rejected the interior plans on a couple of occasions.
Shakti Kapoor, who was shooting with Anil for No Problem yesterday, said, “This is probably the most expensive bus standing at the studio right now. It reportedly costs Rs 2 crore.”
Neither Anil nor the Chhabrias were willing to reveal the actual amount that the bus cost but one hears that the final cost is Rs 1.91 crore.
Anil’s bus is said to be second to Shah Rukh Khan’s 50-feet-long bus that stands outside Mannat. That is built on a Volvo chassis and is reported to have cost SRK approximately Rs 3 crore.

SRK turns 75!
Posted on: December 4, 2009
By Bollywood Hungama News Network, December 4, 2009 – 14:06 IST
After Aamir, it’s now the turn for King Khan to don the grey wig for a brand. Shahrukh Khan this time has done something unprecedented and innovative, by portraying the role of a 75-year-old grandfather, romancing Tanvi Azmi as his wife.
This is for the latest Dishtv campaign that gives viewers a chance to see Shahrukh Khan in an all new avatar. In the second TVC, Shahrukh Khan is paired with Tisca Chopra where he brings home an orphan girl child who settles into the family only after an experience with Dishtv.
Some of the best creative personalities in the country have come together to create this campaign. The creative idea was conceptualized by Ad industry veteran and celebrated lyricist, Prasoon Joshi and the McCann World Group team. The commercials have been directed by the much acclaimed Anurag Basu, (director of films like Life in a Metro, Gangster and the upcoming film Kites). Eminent fashion photographer Tarun Khiwal is the man behind the still photo campaign.
The television commercials are part of the brand’s new brand positioning of ‘Ghar Aayi Zindagi‘ and convey everyday beautiful emotions, through real life situations, of families rejoicing together with their loved ones. In line with the core message of the campaign, Shahrukh Khan will bring alive warm family moments that tug at the heartstrings. Indeed, SRK is the best man for this job.
The glittering premiere of Paa!
Posted on: December 4, 2009
The premiere of the Bachchans’ home production Paa was a glittering affair with the who’s who of Bollywood attending the event last night
The preparations for the grand premiere of Paa last night had started much earlier with Amitabh Bachchan visiting the venue at Wadala Imax at 1 pm yesterday to check out all the arrangements. Though the main event was scheduled to begin at 8.30 pm, a casually dressed Amitabh arrived at the venue much earlier at 6 pm and the first thing he did was to double check the arrangements.
He changed into natty formals shortly before the guests started arriving.
The Bachchans had divided their responsibilities to ensure that their guests are well-looked after. While Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai were standing at the entrance, Jaya Bachchan was looking after all the guests near the screens on the first floor.

Some of the power couples who attended the premiere were Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri, Ajay Devgan and wife Kajol, Hrithik and wife Sussanne, and Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle. SRK sent Gauri and the kids upstairs while he stayed back to chat with the Bachchans for a while. SRK was seen hugging Akshay Kumar. Arshad Warsi and wife Maria were there too.
Ritesh Deshmukh, Dino Morea and Rakeysh Mehra and his wife followed shortly and the director seemed happy to catch up with his Rang De Basanti team Atul Kulkarni and Kunal Kapoor. Sharman Joshi made a late entry.
Ranbir Kapoor and Ritesh were engrossed in a conversation outside screen 3. Aishwarya came upstairs and was seen talking to Ashutosh Gowariker, his wife Sunita and Srishti Behl. Aamir Khan came with his 3 Idiots director Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Aamir left half-an-hour after the screening began.
Abhishek was seen chatting with Govinda, who came in quite late.
Filmmakers David Dhawan, Satish Kaushik and Madhur Bhandarkar were there. Filmmakers Abbas Mustan came all the way from Lonavla.
The screening was held in all the four screens at Imax but it was screen 3, which had the maximum number of stars. The screening of the film started around 10 pm.

A source said, “Aryan and Suhana loved the promos of Paa and can’t wait to watch it. SRK already had some passes for the premiere. He called up Amitabh Bachchan to speak to him at length about the film and ask him more about his character. During the course of the conversation, Bachchan asked SRK about how many extra passes he wants and SRK said that he wants five more passes as his kids are also looking forward to watching the film. Bachchan sent him six passes and also personally requested SRK to attend the film’s premiere. Obviously, SRK’s kids were thrilled.”
Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the news and said, “Yes, he (SRK) called me up and I asked him how many seats he wants. He said five but I have sent him six passes. Aamir asked for six passes, which I have sent him.”

MEENA IYER (BOMBAY TIMES; December 3, 2009)
Farhan Akhtar is smiling to himself as he watches a rough-cut of his next acting assignment Karthik Calling Karthik in the luxury of his own office. The actor says he wanted to release KCK with Deepika Padukone on February 26. “However since there was a slight ambiguity at that point on whether Hrithik Roshan’s Kites would release on the same date, we shifted our release date. Both Duggu and Rakesh Roshan had spoken to me about Kites. If a friend is releasing his film on that date, I would naturally go out of my way to accommodate him.”
Farhan is very fond of Duggu. His sister Zoya Akhtar will start her next flick under Farhan and his friend Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner in April next year; a project which is already creating ripples because of its male line-up. “Zoya’s film will have Hrithik, Abhay Deol and me in the lead,” says Farhan. “But we don’t have a title yet. We’ve run out of English words for titles,” he laughs.
In September Farhan will don the mantle of director for the Bollywood’s Badshah SRK’s Don-2; one of the most anticipated sequels of all time. “Priyanka, SRK, Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani are on board,” he confirms.
Well, now that he is an actor, is he at all tempted to cast himself as Don? “You must be kidding me,” he laughs again. “Only SRK qualifies as Don… He is the biggest and the best.”
Though he has successfully juggled acting and directing, Farhan feels he is no where in the league of past masters like Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt who wore two hats simultaneously and did both jobs remarkably well. “I can either act or direct at a time, so when I’m acting, then I don’t direct,” he says.
What according to him is the most interesting aspect of his having turned actor? “Well I’m a happily married man… so I don’t flirt with my heroines,” he says. “The most interesting aspect of being an actor is that people from all over the world come forward to congratulate me for films like Dil Chahta Hai and Lakshya. When I made those films I was terribly media shy; and there were people who didn’t know what I looked like.
Bharati Dubey | TNN (THE TIMES OF INDIA; November 30, 2009)The actor apologised to Shah Rukh and his family on a talk show on Saturday night. When he was told that Shah Rukh’s children, who were his fans, were upset with him because of his blog, Aamir said, “I really respect Shah Rukh, especially because he is a family man. He takes care of his family. If I have hurt their sentiments, I offer my unconditional apology to Shah Rukh and his family.’’
Aamir denied that he called Shah Rukh the number 2 star. “I had said I consider Sachin Tendulkar as the numero uno, but he does not say that himself.’’
On the remark about calling his dog SRK, Aamir said it was said as a joke. He no longer calls the dog Shah Rukh, but calls him Shaaki.
That Shah Rukh Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj had a fall-out not too long ago was a hot topic of discussion among many. But this is Bollywood, and here, relationships are fickle. The latest on the duo is that they have patched-up, and if all goes well, SRK will star in one of Vishal’s films. They had a long meeting last week, in the course of which, the hatchet was buried.
A source revealed, “Shah Rukh and Vishal met warmly and discussed many ideas. One of them may soon translate into a film.”
Apparently, Shah Rukh and Vishal had creative differences over a script sometime ago when SRK wanted several changes in the script to suit his image and Vishal was not particularly kicked about it.
The first whiff that a patch-up was in the offing came when SRK’s wife Gauri Khan attended a screening of Vishal’s Kaminey at Yash Raj Studios. Commenting on the patch-up, our source said, “Shah Rukh saw Kaminey and sent a message to Vishal, lauding him. On the other hand, Vishal, in a recent interview, praised SRK’s acting abilities and stated that he would love to bring out the actor in his film. Gradually but surely, Shah Rukh and Vishal have put the past behind them. They are now keen on working together.
However, nothing about a film has been finalised yet. But when a director like Vishal and an actor like SRK team up, it will be a much awaited film.
