Rumour has it that martial arts junkie Akshay Kumar has sent a written petition to sports minister MS Gill saying that karate should be made a formal subject in all schools in India.

Akshay’s argument is that why can’t India follow Korea, China, Japan and many other countries, which promote and teach karate on a large scale. Akshay’s son Aarav, who also loves martial arts, often asks his father why karate is not taught in his school. A friend of Akshay says, “Aarav asks Akshay why he has to learn karate outside school? Akshay believes that martial arts develops self-confidence if one learns it early in life.”

Akshay says, “I think that karate should be made compulsory in schools. It is not just about self defense but it also helps children lead a disciplined life.”
