Though reluctant, Rajkumar Santoshi is under pressure to direct a sequel to Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor

Rajkumar Santoshi is in two minds. Or should we say three? The director, who is on a roll after the unexpected success of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is in a dilemma. Santoshi was set to start his next project with either Sunny Deol or Shah Rukh Khan, but now he is under pressure to make a film with Ranbir.

While Santoshi and Ranbir would like to attempt something different, it’s apparent that the market pressures may finally tilt the scales towards another comedy. The buzz is that producers Tauranis want Santoshi to make a sequel to Ajab Prem… right away.

At first, Santoshi counters the news by saying, “When have I ever succumbed to market pressures?” Then he adds diplomatically, “Yes, now there’s a lot of advice from my producers and distributors to make another comedy. Everyone thinks I should make another comedy immediately with Ranbir Kapoor. I have his dates for next year. So let’s see.”

Although Santoshi had almost finalised his project with Sunny and is writing a script for Shah Rukh, it now seems that Ranbir will beat both the stars to the finishing line with some more ghazab ki kahani from ajab Prem’s quirky life.
