A near stampede resulted outside Hrithik Roshan’s building Palazzio, Juhu late on Sunday night when Hrithik threw a party to celebrate his wife Sussanne’s birthday. The who’s who of Bollywood attended the do and a throng of fans stood outside the gate to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.

Guests at the party included Shah Rukh-Gauri Khan, Saif-Kareena, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, Parmeshwar Godrej, Tusshar Kapoor, Arjun Rampal-Mehr Jesia, Chunky-Bhavna Pandey, Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra, Zayed Khan, Kajal Anand, Neelam, Kunal Kapoor, Vicky-Gayatri Oberoi, Sonali-Goldie Behl and Farah Ali Khan, amongst others.

Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza came in together, as did Dino Morea and his now on-now off girlfriend, designer Nandita Mahtani. While Gauri Khan was having a great time dancing, Shah Rukh, who came in an hour after her, was in a rather sober mood. Parmeshwar Godrej was in high spirits and was one of the last guests to leave the party.

Hrithik looked dapper, as usual, in a black shirt and blue jeans, while Sussanne complemented his attire with an elegant black dress.

Incidentally, Hrithik’s favourite co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did not attend the party. A source close to the Roshans said, “Abhishek was busy shooting, hence Aishwarya decided not to come.”

Hrithik’s good friend Priyanka Chopra was also absent. The actress’s official spokesperson said, “Priyanka could not attend Hrithik’s party because she wasn’t feeling too well due to food poisoning.”

Unlike most parties where Ameesha is usually accompanied by her boyfriend Kanav Puri, this time she came alone and looked quite lost.

A rather plump looking Katrina Kaif managed to raise quite a few eyebrows by hobnobbing with boyfriend Salman Khan’s arch rival Shah Rukh Khan. A close friend of Salman said, “Never before have we seen Katrina get along so well with Shah Rukh. Has she broken up with Salman?”

When we asked why Hrithik’s sister Sunaina did not attend the party, the source said, “Sunaina is a loner.”

Since Shilpa got engaged to Raj on Saturday night, everybody wanted to have a look at her huge ring. “Shilpa proudly showed it to almost everybody who was around. She was the centre of attraction all evening,” added the source.

The revelry ended on an unpleasant note when an irate neighbour complained about the loud music reverberating from the building’s 10th floor where the party was on in full swing. A few cops reached the venue but failed to take stock of the situation. They had to call senior police inspector Sawant who asked Hrithik to mellow down.

Ameesha Patel will attend a crowded dahi handi event at Worli
By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 14, 2009)
Nothing can stop Ameesha Patel from celebrating Lord Krishna’s birthday (Janmashtami); not even the deadly swine flu. While most political parties and organisers in Mumbai have cancelled the event, Ameesha is determined to cheer the participants at a dahi handi in Worli.

Our source said, “Ameesha is very close to the organisers and it is a huge celebration. That’s why she is firm about being by their side during the dahi handi. She is pretty cool about the whole swine flu thing.”

Ameesha’s close friend said, “Ameesha firmly believes in Janmashtmi and that’s why she agreed to be a part of the event. Unlike every year, this year’s dahi handi is a small affair. She is not going to wear any mask as she is a firm believer in God.”

Ameesha Patel’s penthouse suffers from callous-tenant syndrome

By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 05, 2009)
Ameesha Patel has learnt about the uncaring and callous ways of tenants the hard way. She got the shock of her life when she returned to her Juhu house after 18 months. She had rented it and when it was vacated, the entire house was in shambles. The tenant had made numerous changes and destroyed all her property, burning a huge hole in her pocket.

Our source said, “Ameesha had rented her Juhu penthouse about a year-and-a-half ago. The house on 10th Road, Juhu scheme was fully furnished and Ameesha had shifted, as it was difficult for her to manage the house alone. The tenant was working in a big corporate firm. The entire house was ripped apart and in a complete mess. All her furniture on the terrace was left to rust and had got spoilt due to the rains. The cushions covers were also left on the terrace and were completely ruined. The sofa covers were ripped, tables were broken; the air conditioners were not serviced at all. The curtains had holes in them and the geyser, lamps and the taps in the washrooms were broken beyond repair and the fans and fuses were destroyed. The marble in the kitchen was stained. The state of the penthouse shocked Ameesha.”

It’s a miracle how the tenant lived in such a state of disarray. The source added, “Ameesha was left wondering what the tenants must have done to cause such damage. She has now asked them to pay for the damages and something is being worked out. Both the brokers, Ameesha’s and the tenant’s, have come to the house together and the consensus is that there is a loss of at least a couple of lakhs.”

The source finally said, “Ameesha now wants to redo the entire house and will paint the house, replace the furniture, the curtains and taps and then decide what she wants to do with the house. She is not sure if she wants to rent it out again as this experience has been shocking for her.”

When contacted, Ameesha Patel heard us out and then said, “No comments”.

Ameesha Patel talks about shaadi and romance with Kanav

OMAR QURESHI Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; May 31, 2009)

Ameesha Patel is in a brutal mood. She’s not about to sit down and take any questions. She’s ready to punch back. And in a no-holds barred, rocking interview with BT, she tells us of her current mood, her hot new avatar, marriage plans and romance with beau Kanav

Some friends have let you down. Do you regret any relationships now?
• None at all. I know there are some mistakes I’ve made in some decisions. But it’s okay. I’ve learned from every one of them. And as far as my relationships and friendships are concerned, I haven’t regretted a day of anything.

Don’t look now, but Ameesha is changing — from cutie-next-door to hot new sizzler! So why not do a hot-hot, full-fledged role, rather than just an item song (Lazy Lamhe)?
• I guess I was testing the waters. I played a dumb bimbette, whose only interest in life is to be fashionable. It was a brand new avatar I had to present. Remember, I was this demure Gadar girl that you take home to your parents. A sweet, salwar kameez-wearing girl. And my audiences liked me like that. I had to change to see whether I fitted in and whether I’d be accepted as a hottie. I was scared to completely take on a full fledged hot role. Today I’m confident to take on any sizzling avatar.

How did you find true love with Kanav?
• Kanav is from London. He’s a hotelier and shuttles between Delhi and London. On one of his business trips, I met him through a common friend. We had coffee over casual conversation. Then about seven-eight months later, we bumped into each other again when I went into Delhi, and we just clicked. We exchanged telephone numbers and that was it. We realised there was a hell of a lot of chemistry happening here and we’ve never looked back.

Who was more intense and which of the two, more romantic?
• There is a huge amount of intensity between us. In every which way. I mean, physically, emotionally, personally. Surprisingly, for a guy, he’s actually very romantic and very caring and realises little-little things, and does the little things that make all the difference. That doesn’t just mean taking me on great holidays or giving me great gifts. All that is, actually, easier to do. It’s the little things that matter, that you have the depth to understand and give to that person.

So marriage is definitely on the cards?
• Aah yes! Eventually marriage is on the cards!
