Raju Hirani relies on Munnabhai design store to dress up Aamir for hit song in new film

While 3 Idiots has already become a box-office hit and its popular song Zoobi Doobi has climbed the music charts at full speed, one person who is as happy as Raju Hirani and the film’s cast is Siraj Furniturewala of Millionaire who dressed up lead actor Aamir Khan for that number. Siraj and his fashion store have been associated with Hirani ever since the filmmaker made Munnabhai MBBS. “Raju is as particular about what he chooses as is Aamir. And I take it as a compliment for Millionaire to have such a long association with him. We provided the clothes for Zoobi Doobi as well as the wedding scenes in 3 Idiots where we dressed up all the lead actors including Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan,” said Siraj. Dressing up Aamir, given the actor’s demand for perfection, was not a problem at all “It took three sittings to decide on the kind of stuff he’d need. My brother Afzal and I, and the whole team of 3 Idiots, worked on this together and Aamir selected the clothes which were apt enough for the situations in the film,” revealed Siraj, adding, “to be appreciated by Aamir in itself adds another feather to the cap of appreciation.” He’s looking at an even longer association with Hirani as well as Vidhu Vinod Chopra. “Both of them, with their inputs on the style and the look, helped us get better in our designs,” he said.

Celebrated film-maker Yash Chopra’s talented son Aditya continues to be a mystery. In an industry teeming with ‘Please look at me’ attention-hungry seekers, Adi (as he is fondly called) runs away from even a hint of the limelight. His hide-and-seek game with the media is now legendary and there are many anecdotes about the lengths to which Adi will go to hide his face from paparazzi cameras.
adi2Once, he accidentally ran into the media while coming out of a movie hall (he wears a big cap pulled over his face so he can watch movies in theatres incognito), and is said to have broken into a sprint towards his car, with the photographers running behind him. As luck would have it, he dropped his mobile phone and as he darted back to pick it up, it made for an amusing sight as the pursuing photographers did a similar u-turn right behind him.
Another time, while he was shooting for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in Amritsar, when Adi came to know that the media wanted to interview him, he apparently asked an assistant to dress like him, and gave journalists the slip by pulling his cap over his head.
adi3So finally when After Hrs discovered that one of his few indulgences include taking a late night dip in the pool of a suburban 5-star hotel, our photographer was set on his trail.
On Wednesday night, when our man finally spotted him and started snapping, Adi, caught unawares, cried, “No, no, please don’t! Don’t shoot! Main aisa nahin hoon!” He then grabbed our photographer’s hand, and pleaded, “Mujhe kyun pareshan kar rahe ho? Why don’t you respect that I don’t want my pictures taken?” When our photographer asserted that he did indeed respect him, Adi calmed down. And then said as a parting shot, “If you don’t stop shooting, I’ll call security and have you thrown out.” Oops! Too late, Adi.

My Name Is Khan

Some time back we had carried an article citing speculation about Fox Star Studios acquiring the rights to the under production film My Name Is Khan. The film, produced by Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment, is being directed by Karan Johar and stars long time comrade and friend Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead.

Now the speculation can be put to rest as Fox Star Studios has signed a deal with Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment to finance and distribute My Name Is Khan. Fox Star Studios will market and distribute the film in India, while Fox Searchlight Pictures (which was responsible for the marketing of the film Slumdog Millionaire) will manage the American release. Twentieth Century Fox will meanwhile co-ordinate the release outside the US and India.

This partnership between Fox Star Studios and the makers of My Name Is Khan, comes after the successful acquisition and release of Fox Star Studios’ recent film Slumdog Millionaire in India.

Speaking on this collaboration Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and C.E.O of Fox Filmed Entertainment said, ”We are extremely proud of the collaboration, My Name Is Khan is a powerful, emotional journey that will cross borders and cultures to enthrall audiences worldwide.”

Vijay Singh, CEO Fox Star Studios India, responsible for spearheading the entire deal said, ”Karan and Shah Rukh have been the most successful combination in Bollywood and we are delighted to be working together on My Name Is Khan.”

My Name Is Khan tells a heartwarming story of a Muslim man from India (played by SRK) living in San Francisco and how he embarks on a remarkable journey across the United States inspiring people and inviting debate, creating an accidental revolution.
