Parinda, Satya, Vaastav, Company and Gangster-these are handful of Hindi films which were based on the mafia/gangster menace and also very well executed. Now Baabarr should be added to this list of ‘finest gangster films of Bollywood’! The film is violent, gory and raw but at the same time, it’s thoroughly engrossing packed with award-winning performances and amazing execution! It was a must-watch but unfortunately, was missed by many!

The story of the movie: The film is based in Amarganj, the Uttar Pradesh town where criminal incidents occur daily and has become a part and parcel of the residents. In one of its dingy lanes, Baabarr (Sohum Shah) emerges as a ruthless gangster. Working with his 5 brothers, Baabarr runs an extortion racket and doesn’t think twice before killing. The govt entrusts the task of eliminating Baabarr and his gang and all their activities to S P Dwivedi (Mithun Chakraborthy). How Dwivedi, along with corrupted Daroga (Om Puri) go about doing their duty is what follows next in the film.

Director Ashuu Trikha may not accept, but the truth is that Baabaar, undoubtedly, is based on dreaded UP gangster, Rafiq Qureshi’s life. The director and the screenwriter (Ikram Akhtar) wonderfully trace Baabarr’s journey from his first murder at 12 years to his death at just 22 or 23 years. The film keeps you on the edge of your seat right from the beginning and has several high-voltage shocking scenes which give goosebumps.

One of the four factors that make Baabaarr stand out is that it takes us to a world which we are ignorant about. The film throws light on Amarganj where murders take place casually, where people have more guns in their houses than chairs, where people are never ever given lessons on good manners and where people are addressed as ‘Oye Pehelwan’ instead of ‘Hey Dude’! However, the setting doesn’t look unrealistic at all (it isn’t actually) and the viewer absorbs everything that is projected in the film. Secondly, every character in the film is added with a purpose and each of them is damn interesting. My 5 favourites were Baabarr, Daroga, Maamu (Tinnu Anand), Sarfaraaz (Shakti Kapoor) and the sexiest one in the film, Tabrez (Sushant Singh)!
Thirdly, everything that happens in the film has a purpose. Meaning, none of the scenes were unnecessarily added-it was all connected to the main plot. For instance, one may feel that grown-up Baabarr’s intro scene where he kills a businessman named Jilani was just added to project Baabarr’s ruthless and merciless nature. But the scene is well connected to the next one and also to the storyline. And lastly, the climax of this film is shocking! There is an excellent twist that takes place which catches you unawares! It doesn’t spoil the film at all and also looks justified. In short, a great work by the writer-director duo!

Some scenes of the film are memorable. Baabarr’s first murder at 12 and Baabarr killing Jilani in his own factory set the mood. Tabrez finishing Akram in a cow slaughter house is gruesome scene but clapworthy. The intermission point was easily the best scene of the film!

The only glitch in the entire film is that it gets a bit slow in the 2nd half.

Every actor in the film has pitched in a fabulous performance-in fact, much much better than their other films in recent times. Newcomer Sohum Shah rocks with his finest performance. Since it his debut, he doesn’t come with the baggage of any past significant performance and thus, one connects to his character instantly. Also, the actor wonderfully exhibits the ruthlessness that his character needed. Even his dialogue delivery rocked. This year, except Raj Singh Chaudhary of Gulaal, none of debutants have managed to impress and hence, Sohum has high chance of bagging the Best Debut award next year!

However, the question arises that based on his appearance and the kind of character he played in Baabarr, will he be offered other types of roles in future? I hope he gets as he’s a truly a gem! Best of luck! (P.S.: Is Sohum Shah Mukesh Shah’s son who is the co-producer of the film?!)

Mithun Chakraborty does his job with élan. His meeting with Sohum is an explosive scene! Om Puri rocks and this was certainly one of the finest performances of his life. The way he changed his mannerisms, walking style and accent for this role and did a great job is definitely praiseworthy. Same goes for Sushant Singh who delivers phaadu performance! I have loved this talented actor since 16 December and am impressed to see him in such an interesting role. Here is an actor who deserves to be a superstar!

Urvashi Sharma was fine but one may argue that her character was unnecessary. Mukesh Tiwari was brilliant, esp in the pre-climax scene inside the prison. Ditto for Tinnu Anand, who shows his extremely talented side in the pre-climax. Shakti Kapoor is surprisingly, extremely likeable! Govind Namdeo was as usual. Kashish Khan as Baabarr’s wife gives a nice ‘Kaminey’s Charlie-type’ performance! Abbas Ali Moghul, the action director of the film, is there for a scene and plays the role of Akram Qasai. He’s a great actor! Pratima Kazmi plays Lilavati, a character based on Mayawati. Shockingly, a beep tone is inserted whenever her name is mentioned in the film! Others also do a great job.

Anand Raj Anand’s music was alright. The title song is impressive. Suhass Gujarathi’s cinematography is brilliant and the dingy by-lanes of Uttar Pradesh towns are well captured. Abbas Ali Moghul charms as the actor and also as the action director! Although some scenes had too much bloodshed, it was needed. Sunil Singh’s background score was in sync with the film’s mood.
Vikram Misra and Ikram Akhtar’s dialogues were one of the best things about the film. The best dialogue of the film (and one of the best in recent times) is: “Gas khatam ho gayi hai…tujhe jalakar chai banayenge tujh pe!” Absolutely rocking!

Ikram Akhtar has also written the story and script of the movie and he excels thoroughly! The film keeps you on the edge of the seat and doesn’t bore even for a moment! Great job by Akhtar, who has scripted some contrastingly light films like Nayee Padosan, Joru Ka Ghulam, Chal Mere Bhai etc!

Finally, Ashuu Trikha is a revelation! The director has always done a fine job in his past films (Deewanapan, Sheesha, Alag) but was let down by faulty scripts. In Baabarr, however, he is armed with a flawless script and he does a brilliant job. He succeeds in exposing the gangster-police-politicians nexus that is rampant in the interiors of the country and where lawlessness prevails. Hats off to Ashuu and hoping to see him with such nice films in future!

Although it has excessive violence, it manages to impress with his intriguing execution and performances. The film wasn’t publicized well when it released in September this year. But now, all movie buffs, do catch it on DVD! Don’t Miss It!

Sanjay Dutt In Munnabhai MBBS, Sanjay Dutt had thumbed his nose at academic qualifications by fudging his way through a doctorate. Now in Faltu, he questions our educational system in a less satirical far more serious tone.

When Vashu Bhagnani wanted to re-launch his son, he needed an A-lister as a box-office support.

Every leading man declined politely. Only Bollywood dildaar, Sanju Baba, came forward to work with Jackky Bhagnani in a film that starts in September to be directed by choreographer Remo. It will star Sanjay Dutt and Vashu’s son Jackky who made his debut this year with Kal Kissne Dekha.

Jackky’s second film is not an escapist entertainer. Says Vashu, “It’s a film about the lacuna in present-day education. When I heard Remo’s story, I was bowled over. It’s about the failure of today’s educational system to guide our youngsters into suitable careers. It’s about how there’s too much stress in and on academics and too little on actually tapping every child’s potential. Remo has earlier made an award-winning Bengali film (Lal Paharer Katha with Mithun Chakbraborty).”

Vashu’s son’s post-debut film going by the improbable title of Faltu sounds like a departure from convention.

“It is,” concedes Vashu. “But nothing conventional works any more. I want to bring new talent into the industry. And the title is an acronym. I can’t reveal the full form. It will give away the plot.”

Ashu Trikha believes in following his dreams, even if that means waiting for three years to realise them. Not the one to follow a beaten path, the director, who’s also directed Alag, is back with another hatke film, this time based on the crime scene in Central India. Titled Baabarr, the film marks the debut of newcomer Soham along with actress Urvashi Sharma and also stars stalwarts like Mithun Chakraborthy, Om Puri, Tinnu Anand and Sushant Singh. Here, the filmmaker talks about his crime caper.

Baabarr is based on real-life incidents. What made you choose such a hard-hitting subject?
• The entire fact that such incidents have happened and continue to happen even today, and that the characters depicted in the film really do exist, is a matter of great shame for any society. It was something that I felt about very strongly.

You tried to deal with the film in realistic manner…
• Yes, because the film required it. Baabarr is a stark film, not for the fainthearted. A lot of research has gone into it. And during that, we realised that to get the right feel, it was important to keep the backdrop as natural as possible. So whether it’s shooting on rough terrain or in real locations or with real country made revolvers, we have tried to present reality in the truest form.
Your last few films have all been very different. Weren’t you wary of taking a risk with such a serious film on crime?
• Every film is a risk. The only thing in our hands is to make a film sincerely and with all honesty.
On the one hand you have a newcomer Soham and on the other hand you have stalwarts like Om Puri and Mithun Chakraborthy…
• Yes. And I felt like I’m having the best of both the worlds. There was raw talent waiting to be honed and there was a sea of experience waiting to be tapped. Omji and Mithunda are some of the finest actors to date, while Soham has the spark and is spectacularly good as a debutante.

Do you think a film so real is commercially viable?
• Absolutely. The film is not a documentary. It has its light moments, there are songs and dances too, but none of them have been forcibly included. So, it’s very much a hard-core commercial film, but with it’s sensibilities rooted in realism.

What was the most challenging thing about shooting for the film?
• Shooting in the kind of conditions that we did was challenging. Because unlike shooting in a studio which is quite a controlled environment, shooting in rough terrain is physically very demanding.

What’s the message you want your audiences to take home after watching the film?
• I don’t want to preach anything through my film. I only want them to question where we are headed as a society.

DON’T EXPECT JAB WE MET IN LOVE AAJ KAL!

This weekend is bound to be very interesting. Whatever response may tomorrow’s release Love Aaj Kal (also one of the most awaited films of the year) get from the audience (and critics), it’ll surely result in an exciting situation. The film is expected to take a hurricane start and if the film manages to connect with the audience, it can easily be Saif’s biggest hit ever!

When it comes to Love Aaj Kal, discussions are only centered on the lead man and producer Saif Ali Khan, actress Deepika Padukone, director Imtiaz Ali and also Kareena Kapoor (even though she’s not a part of the film!)! However, two important people connected to the film are miles away from the limelight. One is the second actress of Love Aaj Kal (LAK), whose identity has been deliberately kept a secret by the makers and the other is Saif’s producer-partner Dinesh Vijan (see pic) who is ignored by the media, since he’s not known name.

Dinesh VijanHowever, the fact is Dinesh Vijan is as much a producer of LAK as Saif. Dinesh’s first film as a producer was Being Cyrus, which also starred Saif. Dinesh and Ambika Hinduja were two of the four producers of Being Cyrus and had formed a production company, Serendipity Films. He and Saif realized on the sets that both have similar tastes and views regarding films and felt that they should jointly make movies. Post-Being Cyrus, both of them went their own ways. Dinesh then produced Shiney-Esha Deol starrer Hijack along with its director Kunal Shivdasani under the banner, Aleya Motion Magic. Finally, Dinesh and Saif got back again and made their own production house, Illuminati Films. However, they won’t be parting after LAK’s release. They have decided to jointly produce more films, which are qualitative as well as interesting. Their next film is already on the cards. Titled Agent Vinod, it stars Saif and Kareena and is produced by Johnny Gaddaar director, Sriram Raghavan. There are also plans to produce a film of Being Cyrus director, Homi Adjania.

Regarding the mysterious girl in Love Aaj Kal, there are around 10 people who have asked me as to who she is and her name, because she looks beautiful and I am the one who’s supposed to know everything about Hindi films! Unfortunately, this time, even I am ignorant since the producers have wonderfully kept her under wraps! Her name has not been disclosed and she has not made any public appearance till date. Only her screen name is available-Harleen Kaur. Hopefully, one would know who she is in 24 hours, when reviews start pouring in. Check out her pic!

Finally, the film is hugely awaited also due to its director-Imtiaz Ali, who impressed everyone with his last film, Jab We Met (JWM). One may feel this time things would be easy for him but I feel that things would be even more difficult. One didn’t had much expectation from JWM as no one expected it to be such a brilliant film in all respects. Viewers would naturally expect a lot from LAK. However, one should not expect something like JWM from LAK as both films are as different as chalk and cheese. That’s why, Imtiaz was even against the idea of inserting the card ‘Fromthe director of Jab We Met’ in the promos of LAK!

Saif, Deepika, Imtiaz, Dinesh, mysterious girl, Pritam (music), Irshad Kamil (lyrics)…all talented and all are youngsters. So LAK is surely a film for the youth, by the youth! Here’s wishing lots of luck to everyone associated with this fresh-looking film!

P.S.: Neetu Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Rahul Khanna and comedian Vir Das are also a part of the film!

CHAL CHALEIN SEEMS IMPRESSIVE!

A small film releasing next week, Chal Chalein, seems to be very impressive and interesting. It deals with the topic of suicide committed by students, due to the fear of either their parents or of scoring less marks in examinations. The film centers around eight friends, studying in Class 11. One of them commits suicide after he is unable to bear the pressure burdened on him by his parents (Kanwaljeet and Rati Agnihotri). His friends realize that not only parents, but even the education system is to blame for such suicides. They start a movement and manage to take it to court, with the help of a lawyer (played by Mithun Chakraborthy). Chal Chalein also stars Chak De girl Shilpa Shukla. The film seems meaningful and if handled well, can manage to impact the viewers greatly. However, like every small film, it is not well promoted and the promos on TV don’t show what the film is actually about. Please spare some minutes and watch the exclusive theatrical promo below. The film is releasing next Friday, Aug 7.

Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.’s new film Luck releases worldwide today, and you may place your bets on Dhilin Mehta, the production house’s MD, becoming the next big business honcho to watch out for in Bollywood!


Young and talented, he took over the reins immediately after graduating from B-School, and since then has taken the company to new heights with a spate of blockbuster family entertainers like Golmaal, Bhagam Bhag, Jab We Met and Golmaal Returns.


Of today’s release, starring Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Shruti Haasan, Mithun Chakraborthy, Danny Denzongpa, Ravi Kissen and Chitrashi Rawat, Dhilin promised, “Luck is a complete thriller and will keep audiences at the edge of their seats. The intriguing theme of human betting combined with the eclectic combination of talents makes it a perfect entertainer. The stars have performed some extraordinary death-defying stunts and that is the highlight of the film.”


But director Soham Shah offered another take: “Behind every big film you require a bigger producer who shares the same vision and has faith in his director. The
ideas of ‘luck’ and ‘betting’ apply very aptly to filmmaking where producers like Dhilin put such enormous sums of money in a project that they believe in.”


And Soham’s right, from getting custom-made gold and diamond accessories for Sanjay Dutt to calling for paragliding experts from different parts of the world for an action scene, Dhilin has spared no expense to satisfy his director’s creative requirements.


Rohit Shetty, who’s worked with the production house for Golmaal and Golmaal Retuns, said, “They go
with the director’s conviction. It’s been a fabulous experience and I hope it continues with Golmaal 3, which we intend to start very soon.”


Likewise, Imtiaz Ali, who shot to fame after his film Jab We Met, praised Dhilin, “Working with Shree Ashtavinayak was extremely smooth and hassle-free and that was an important reason behind the success of the film.”


Dhilin, however, described his success mantra as being “all about vision, passion and having a sound business strategy”. The filmmaker, who has projects like Blue, Run Bhola Run and Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh releasing this year, added, tongue firmly in cheek, “Of course, it is always important to have that ‘Luck’ factor favouring you!”

Since a couple of years, we are bombarded with adventurous reality shows, where contestants do dangerous stunts or stay for 3 months in an enclosed house equipped with video cameras or spend 2 months in jungle or reveal their deepest secrets in front of the family and also the entire country! The motive of all the participating contestants is to win and take home a big moolah. The film Luck goes a step ahead. No, it isnt a reality show but the setting reminds you of one. Except, that one small mistake by the contestant and he/she is dead! A saga of such an extremely dangerous game of death, Luck entertains and thrills fully! Unfortunately, it comes with its share of flaws too! More on it later!

The story of the film: Muusaa Bhai (Sanjay Dutt) is a big name in the world of gambling and betting. He has come up with the concept of human betting and assembles 15 ‘lucky’ people from all around the world to South Africa. Tamang (Danny Denzogpa) helps Muusaa unearth these ‘hidden treasures’ who are favoured by luck-Ram Mehra (Imran Khan) is in a debt of Rs. 20 crore, all thanks to his father who is no more. Retd Major Jawar Pratap Singh (Mithun Chakraborthy) urgently needs Rs. 25 lakhs for his wife’s treatment. Shortcut (Chitrashi Rawat) is a camel racer in Pakistan who has the ability to win in the race even though her camel has a limp! Serial killer Raghav (Ravi Kishan) wonderfully cheats death. And finally, Ayesha (Shruti Haasan) who has already won in the game of human betting once and is back again. In addition, there are some more from the rest of the world. All of them have one thing in common-they all possess luck. There will be only one winner and survivor in the end who’ll go home with 20 crores. Who will that be?

Luck has everything needed for an exciting action packed adveturous thriller-thrilling background score, top-class sound design, action sequences that are out of the world and outstanding sequences. The first scene of the film (see pic below) sets the mood wonderfully. In fact, the initial scene turns out to be one of the best shot scenes of Indian cinema!

The first hour concentrates mostly on the background of all the characters. There was a possibility that the film would have turned boring at this point. However, the film has some interesting moments in this portion as well. The film takes a turn when the contestants reach South Africa. All the challenges given to them was well executed and keeps the viewers on the edge of the seat. The climax was brilliant and the surprise towards the finale was very interesting and witty!

However, unfortunately, the film has some glithces too, which could had been easily avoided by the screenwriters. The biggest goof was undoubtedly Ravi Kishan being released from the prison. What was funny and nonsensical was the reason behind his release-watch it and you’ll feel like hurling a shoe on the screen! Other glitches in the flm:
Tamang (Danny) in debt of Rs. 3 lakhs on one side and on the other, he is riding in an expensive SUV and daily spending 50 bucks on lottery!
-The real identity of Ayesha-the flashback didnt quite make sense
-The song ‘Aazma-Luck is the Key‘, sung by Shruti Haasan herself, missing from the film!

With so many brilliant performers, it becomes difficult to judge who was the best. Sanjay Dutt rocks with his brilliant performance! He has already an expert in essaying such ‘bhai’ roles and therefore, performs in Luck with ease. But one wont find him repetitive-everybody would love him for sure! Keep rocking Sanju Baba!

Imran Khan is an actor to watch! He had already proved his worth in Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na and also in Kidnap, he was brilliant. In case of Luck, he was impressive, especially in the beginning and in the climax where the focus was all on him. Debutant Shruti Haasan is here to stay. Along with good looks and great voice, she has the confidence and capability to carry off even the most challenging roles. She’s possibly winning Best Debut (Female) Award this time!

Chitrashi Rawat was a charmer! She had charmed everyone in Chak De! India (and also in Fashion) and now does it again in Luck too! Mithun Chakraborthy is natural as always. Danny Denzogpa turns out to be the scene stealer. He was completely in form and gives in an master performance! He’s also going to be seen next in Acid Factory, where he is expected to score another sixer. Danny’s back! Ravi Kishan gives a brilliant performance and does a perfect job.

Newcomer Snita Mahey is a perfect lookalike of Angelina Jolie! However, she hardly has anything to do in the film. Same goes for Rati Agnihotri. Others were good.

Salim-Sulaiman‘s music was catchy but could had been better. The best song was ‘Aazma‘. ‘Khudaya Ve’ is also a good composition.

Director Soham Shah hires the same crewman that he had for his debut venture, Kaal-cinematographer Santosh Thundiyil, composers Salim-Sulaiman, action director Allan Amin and sound designer Dwarak Warrier. None of them let Soham down and each of them excel in their departments. Santosh Thundiyil‘s cinematography was eye-catching. The talented lesnman’s last film was Krrish, 3 years back. I wonder where was he all these years! Dwarak Warrier‘s sound design was electrifying, especially in the initial scene. Allan Amin as expected did a fabulous job. The action scenes were no less than a Hollywood flick! Amar Mohile provided the background score, which hugely added to the thrill.

Soham Shah and Rensil D’Silva wrote the screenplay of the film. The screenplay was gripping at several places and helped in maintaining a steady flaw. But at times, the film also fell, thanks to the screenplay.

Finally, Soham Shah alone wrote the story and the directed the film. Overall, he did a great job. The film uses lots of effects and is loaded with style. And this at times took a toll on the proper execution of the film. But Soham surely has a long way to go!

Fasten your seat belts and get ready for hardcore stunts and thrills, Hollywood ishtyle. Come to think of it, Bollywood hasn’t churned out stylised action movies as regularly as it churns out comedies and rom-coms. There’s a vacuum for sure. But LUCK fills that lacuna. Be rest assured, you haven’t watched such thrills since DHOOM 2.

LUCK is more of a hi-concept film. Three decades ago, Krishna Shah’s SHALIMAR narrated the adventures of a billionaire who assembles/invites criminals/gangsters from across the globe to perform the heist of a precious diamond that he possesses. The concept isn’t similar here, but in this case too, a gambler assembles people from across the globe for a concept called human betting.

LUCK may not be high on story, but the concept and at least four stylised thrilling sequences make a big difference. Simply put, it makes LUCK lucky.

LUCK may have loads of thrills, but director Soham Shah ensures that the grand canvas and stylised thrills appeal to every strata of movie-going audience. Only thing, had screenplay writers Soham Shah and Rensil D’Silva worked doubly hard to come up with a watertight script, it would’ve only worked wonders.

After weighing the pros and cons, it can be said that LUCK rides on star power, its concept and adrenaline-pumping thrills primarily. If you’re into thrillers or have been missing one, LUCK holds the key.

LUCK tells the tale of mafia kingpin Musa [Sanjay Dutt], who has one obsession: To revolutionize the betting industry. For him, life is a gamble and what better way to skew the odds than play with those with luck on their side.

Different characters from different parts of the world, each with Lady Luck in their favour, are brought in to play the game of death. With millions at stake, how far will each of them go in courting danger and deceit?

The very start of the film transports you to a different world. The viewer is drawn into a world where bets are placed on humans and death-defying stunts are the order of the day. The train sequence at the very start says it all. It’s a sequence that not only introduces you to the plot, but also makes a hammer-strong impact. You haven’t watched something like this on the Hindi screen before.

The game of death is far more dangerous than those witnessed in the reality shows. The revolver sequence [the first challenge], the helicopter jump, the underwater sequence with sharks and the train sequence in the climax give you goose bumps and remain etched in your memory. There’s a scene involving a lighter too, which is sure to draw whistles and claps.

But the film slips due its ineffectual writing. It gyrates from engrossing to bas-theek-hain towards the second hour. The romantic track, to be specific, is flaccid. Also, the climax should’ve concluded the moment Imran wins the jackpot money of Rs. 20 crores. Wasn’t that his motive when he entered the game with his eyes wide open? So why this sudden urge to confront Sanjay Dutt after the game is over? Had the prize money doubled to Rs. 40 crores, it would’ve made sense. Or, for that matter, if he had a personal score to settle with Sanju, the game of death would’ve looked plausible. There’s no motive in the first place.

Moreover, the sequence in the hospital, towards the end, may be true, medically speaking, but the question is, was it necessary in a film of this genre? Frankly, it robs the film of its seriousness and even compels you to break in a full-throated roar, a reaction that is completely unwarranted. Even Shruti Haasan’s double role doesn’t cut ice.

Soham Shah has made a stylish film and the fact remains that he has an eye for visuals. But Soham should’ve stuck to the spirit of the film, instead of getting into diversions [romance and the penultimate scene]. Salim-Sulaiman’s music is vibrant and ‘Aasma’ is easily the pick of the lot. The background score [Amar Mohile] is electrifying. Santosh Thundiyil’s cinematography matches international standards. Ditto for the sound design by Dwarak Warrier. Allan Amin’s stunts and thrills are a major USP.

Sanju is perfect for this part and enacts it with natural ease. Actually, here’s one role that only he could’ve portrayed so effectively. Imran is getting better with every film. Watch his helplessness at the start or his confidence when he takes to the stunts. Even towards the latter reels, he’s very much in sync with his character.

Shruti Haasan is a star, no two opinions on that. The confidence with which she carries off this role just cannot be overlooked. Ravi Kishan is another scene-stealer. You are under the impression that he may get lost in the crowd, but he stands tall. The masses will love him.

Mithun Chakraborty is controlled and delivers a truly fine performance. Danny Denzongpa is, as always, so perfect. Very few actors have that ability to stand out in a crowd. He’s one of them. Chitrashi is excellent. The sequence in the hospital is superb. Rati Agnihotri gets no scope.

On the whole, LUCK rides on star power, adrenaline-pumping thrills and a concept that’s novel for the Indian screens. Despite some loose ends, these three factors primarily would ensure a Lucky journey at the box-office.
