HOT! Neha Dhupia in a still from Raat Gayi Baat Gayi

One-night stands are harmless as long as you are not hurting anyone, says Neha Dhupia in a candid chat with BT

ROSHNI K OLIVERA Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; December 30, 2009)

Neha Dhupia made headlines with her line ‘In India only SRK and Sex sell’. Now the focus is on her again with Pritish Nandy Communications’ Raat Gayi Baat Gayi releasing tomorrow. The movie, produced by Rangita Pritish Nandy and directed by Saurabh Shukla, won the best film award at the HBO Asian International Film Festival in New York last month. Neha plays the mysterious gorgeous woman hunted down by Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Dalip Tahil, after a night of lots of drinking, sex and zero memory! Ask her if it’s a bold role and she replies candidly, “If you are asking in terms of skin show, then no. But if being bold is a state of mind, then yes.” That’s Neha for you. Not one to mince words, the actress speaks to BT about relationships, sex and movies…

What’s your take on one-night stands?
The problem with one-night stands is that you end up hurting so many people. As long as you are not hurting any one, it’s fine.

In Raat Gayi Baat Gayi you have a onenight stand with a married man…
There are seven characters in the film! Why do you assume it’s my character who’s had the one-night stand? Are you assuming that because I am attractive… Not fair!

Do you think the Indian audience is opening up to sex in movies?
Dev D was a big hit. Indian audiences are open to fantastic scripts. Raat Gayi… is a funny kind of a thrilling experience that takes you through a drunken night. You don’t really know what happened last night. The film is packed with a lot of emotions and it is very relatable. You can relate to one or the other character.

You’ve done movies of various genres… what’s your favourite?
It’s very hard for me to say that. Right from my roles in Singh Is Kinng, De Dana Dan, Mithya, Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local to Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, everything is challenging and at the same time everything is easy. I don’t over-intellectualise the whole acting medium. I’m not working because I have to work. I’m working because I really enjoy doing so.

Are you happy with the way your career has shaped up so far?
I am. I had made a few mistakes, but I don’t regret anything. They have been learning experiences. I have come a long way, but I also have a long way to go…

WHAT WAS COOKING? Lara Dutta and Tiger Woods
Rumours of Golf Ace and Miss Universe from India resurface

MEENA IYER Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; December 28, 2009)

An old rumour dating back to June 2001, is raising its head again and is likely to bring unwanted attention to Bollywood hottie Lara Dutta who is already under media glare for her new relationship with tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi. The story goes that way back in 2001, a year after India had two beauty pageant winners in Lara Dutta at the Miss Universe and Priyanka Chopra at Miss World, Golf Ace Tiger Woods was dating one of them. The rumour was that our Lara Dutta, who was reportedly dating New York Yankees baseballer Derek Jeter, had also caught the eye of the greatest golfer in the world. A US newspaper, in a story on Tiger, had the champion golfer denying he was dating “Miss Universe Lara Dutta of India — or trying to steal her from New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.” The Woods Foundation people, in fact, dismissed the story as being “Nothing more than gossip, probably put out by Dutta’s camp.” And Lara came back to India and fame in Bollywood.

But now that skeletons are tumbling out of Tiger’s woodwork, the gossip that he may have actually dated one of our Indian beauty queens is again gaining momentum. Suddenly Tiger’s denials that were taken very seriously eight years ago are now being re-examined. After all, he has turned out to be quite a champ off the greens. And has swung his club around in every direction!
Neil Nitin Mukesh will make his relationship with his girlfriend Priyanka Bhatia official in 2010

By Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 25, 2009)

Neil Nitin Mukesh and his designer girlfriend Priyanka Bhatia will officially announce their relationship in 2010. They might also tie the knot in the coming year.

Neil is surprisingly candid on the matters of the heart. He says, “Priyanka and I spend so much time together, so making it official is hardly going to make a difference to our equation. There’s absolutely no family pressure on either of us. In fact, God forbid, if we ever decide not to carry our relationship further our parents will disown us.”

Neil and his girlfriend might soon get engaged. He tells us, “It’s just a matter of exchanging rings. Otherwise our relationship is as official as it gets.”

Neil doesn’t rule out the possibility of marriage in 2010 either. He reveals, “Neither Priyanka nor I see marriage as a hindrance to our career and ambitions. She’s a very talented designer. And we would both like to grow together and individually. Some of our most successful actors from Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh to Hrithik are happily married. Gone are the days when heroes used to hide their girlfriends and wives.”

Neil would also like his future wife to design clothes in all his films. “She knows what looks good on me. And I take her advice about what to wear anyway. I don’t think I’d like to be dressed up by anyone else more than Priyanka.”

ON A HIGH: Himesh Reshammiya
After scoring music for 100 films, 500 songs and huge shows worldwide, singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya still feels like a newcomer

HARSHADA REGE Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; December 3, 2009)

It’s time to tune into Himesh Reshammiya once again as the composer turned-singer turned-actor prepares to step on the silver screen for the third time with Radio today. Himesh, who has been there and done it all, says he feels like this is debut. “Everything about the film is new. Be it my look, music, subject or the sensibilities. It’s something that people will relate to. It’s something that I would watch myself,” he says. The movie is about Vivan, a radio jockey, who gives people advice on their relationship troubles, but doesn’t know where his relationships are heading. The film apparently has already covered its cost through music sales, video and satellite rights. “Yes, the movie is a profitable venture even before its release, but I am looking forward to the audience’s reaction. I have worked a lot on this character and I crave for recognition as an actor,” admits Himesh. Of course, the composer, who has scored music for 100 films, 500 songs and has been part of many shows worldwide, is happy that the music has been appreciated so much and has been rocking the music charts. “Yes, the music is completely different. It’s a new sound, a new voice,” he says. Despite some people putting him down, Himesh has managed to brave the odds. And this time around he has gone for a makeover all over again. He will be seen sporting short hair and in a casual avatar. But this isn’t anything new for Himesh. “Be it my music or look, I have always believed in experimenting. People have appreciated my look in the promos too,” he says.

Anita Hasanandani and Eijaz Khan, who were to wed early next year, have called it quits

By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 02, 2009)

Anita Hasanandani and Eijaz Khan, who were in a relationship for almost four years, have called it quits.

Cupid struck when they started working together in Kkavyanjali, in which they were the lead pair. The couple was supposed to tie the knot early next year but recently things went terribly wrong between them and they decided to split.

Explaining the reason for the breakup, a friend of Anita says, “The reason in one word is incompatibility. Lately, Anita and Eijaz were always fighting. If you want to live under the same roof and don’t meet at a common point on most things, it is better to re-evaluate the relationship and take a call. That’s exactly what Anita and Eijaz did. They realised that their relationship was turning ugly and decided to step back.”

The parting was not very amicable and they are not on talking terms. “Whatever happened has happened for the best. It is better to be safe than sorry. Both of them realised in time that their relationship was not meant to be. Anita will take a long time to come out of this split, but she is a brave girl and will definitely move on in life,” adds the source.

Anita confirms that she and Eijaz are not a couple anymore and says, “Yes, Eijaz and I have called off our relationship. I am single. I don’t want to say anything more.”

Eijaz remained unavailable for comment.

The demise of the Ranbir-Deepika relationship was hardly a shocker. But what propelled the two to call it a day? Here is the inside story behind the split

By Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 03, 2009)

Ranbir Kapoor Deepika Padukone

Though rumours of a break-up have been brewing for a while, it’s now clear that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have ended their relationship. Though various theories have been floating about the cause of their break-up, here’s the real reason why the two have parted ways.

Immediate speculation will point to Ranbir’s chemistry with Katrina Kaif. It’s hasty to pin the blame on Katrina though, as Deepika had seemed insecure before the pretty actress came into the picture. And it’s not Ma Kapoor that put the spanner in the works either.

Ranbir, after all, is a hot-blooded Kapoor. He is a natural charmer as far as women go and sooner or later, Deepika would have heard about his flirtations. Apparently, Ranbir isn’t too modest about it either. Discretion about his less-than-innocent encounters would’ve been highly advisable, but he hasn’t exactly been a posterboy for it so far. Common friends carried the news to Deepika, perhaps adding a bit of tadka for flavour.

This is when Deepika decided to call it off. Apparently, she told Ranbir to mend his ways since she had given a lot to this relationship. She had cut off ties with all her ‘good friends’ like Nihar Pandya and Yuvraaj Singh. So, she wanted Ranbir to give 100 per cent to the relationship as well. She kept hearing about his ‘friendship’ with Nandita Mahtani and other girls.

At this point of time, Ranbir started feeling suffocated in his relationship with Deepika. He asked for his space and Deepika justifiably wanted to know ‘What space? Aren’t we a couple?’

The final straw was hearing about his ‘crackling chemistry’ with Katrina. The next thing she did was to land up on the sets of Rajneeti in Bhopal, where Ranbir was shooting with Katrina. She stayed there for nearly two weeks.

After she came back from Bhopal, her relationship with Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s son was almost over. The crack first became evident at Shabina Khan’s birthday party two weeks ago where the two sat in different corners of the room.

And what about Neetu Singh? Mamma Neetu, who is said to have a very cold relationship with Deepika, did not play catalyst. A source says, “Neetu wants Ranbir to be happy. She will never go against his choice. Ranbir always treated Deepika as a girlfriend and not as someone special, basically there was no passion in their relationship.”
