The coming year is an important year for Vidya. She starts the year with Ishqiya and then moves onto Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Chenab Gandhi. “The decision to do fewer films is entirely mine,’’ says the actress who is now super-confident that when it comes to her career, she will not make one false move.
On the personal front, it is rumoured that almost all her heroes be it John Abraham (Salaam-e-Ishq), Shahid Kapoor (Kismat Konnection) and now Arshad Warsi (Ishqiya) are attracted to her. “Rubbish,’’ she flails her hands and says. “In fact, I think none of my heroes even treat me like a lady. I’m treated like one of the boys. My heroes backslap me and we share a few laughs and jokes. However, I don’t think any of them is attracted to me. If they were, I would have noticed.’’
Well, well…so even as the rumour mills continue to buzz about Vidya past romances with John and Shahid, the actress herself has rubbed her slate clean… and is looking forward to her knight in shining armour putting in an appearance in 2010.
What should one say — Halleluah!
Although Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to be a strict disciplinarian on the sets, his love for kids is relatively unknown. Recently, he gifted Hrithik Roshan’s son Hrehaan a 3D videogame console, Nintendo Wii.

A source says, “Sussanne Roshan drops in on the sets of Guzaarish quite often. She was even present with the kids at the outdoor schedule of the film in Goa. The director, who is close to his nieces and showers them with gifts, was often seen playing with Hrithik’s sons after pack-up. In no time, he grew extremely fond of both the kids.”
Talking about the reason for gifting, the source says, “Bhansali learnt that Hrehaan is fond of videogames and is keen on buying the new Nintendo Wii. Without wasting a single day, he ordered the game and gifted it to Hrehaan. Hrehaan was excited about receiving the unexpected gift and thanked Sanjay with a warm hug.”
It’s not just Hrehaan who loves to play the game, even Hrithik is hooked on to it. The source adds, “Hrithik, who is tech-savvy, is addicted to the new game. He plays the game with the kids whenever he is home.

This game also doubles up as a workout for the body.”
Bhansali denied the story. However, a source close to Bhansali says, “Bhansali is extremely fond of Hrehaan and Hridhaan. When he learnt of their wish to buy a Nintendo Wii, he decided to gift it to them.”
What do you say to your ex-flame when you bump into him? Nothing. You look through him, or at least that is the strategy Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is endorsing these days. This is what happened just a few days ago (On Monday to be precise) when Salman Khan and Aishwarya crossed each other’s paths.
The said incident took place at Mehboob Studios where Aishwarya is busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish and Salman Khan was shooting for a promo for his next release, Veer.
According to an onlooker, Salman emerged from his car and was talking on the phone with a smile on his face. Soon, his smile turned into a frown as at the same time, Aishwarya stepped out and was walking towards her van.

Both froze. Our source, who was present at the studio, insists that they did look into each other’s eyes for a moment and immediately looked the other way.
Aishwarya entered her van immediately, so our source couldn’t gauge her reaction. But the source did catch Salman’s discomfort.
The source insists that after the incident, Khan was not too keen on shooting but couldn’t bail out of the shoot.
“Though he walked in talking on the phone with a smile, after coming face-to-face with Aishwarya he didn’t utter a single word, except when he was facing the camera,” the source concludes.
After playing an ideal mother in ‘Paa’, Vidya Balan says she is ready to surprise audiences with a completely different avatar in forthcoming movie ‘Ishqiya’. She will be seen as a conniving, scheming woman in Vishal Bharadwaj’s dark drama.
“For the first time I’ll be playing a woman who is conniving, scheming and in whom there is a sexual aggression,” Vidya told us in an interview.
“She is an aggressive person. She is someone who is unapologetic about her own choices. Bold is the word I’ll use for the lack of a better word. In the Indian context, she would be Rambha, Durga or Kali. She is someone who is dressed from top to toe but oozes sensuality,” the actress said.
Set in eastern Uttar Pradesh, ‘Ishqiya’ is a tale of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion and deceit. Made by first time director Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Bharadwaj, the film also stars Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles.
In the film, Vidya sports a deglamourised look and mouths expletives.
Asked if Bharadwaj was the reason she signed ‘Ishqiya’, she said: “It’s always very reassuring when the producer is an established guy because when you take a film, you want to know that no compromises will be made while making the film and even after it gets released.
“Of course Vishal comes with a certain brand and credibility…but more importantly I loved the role offered to me. I wouldn’t have given it up. Along with that I loved Abhishek’s passion and sensibility. So it was a combination of all these things when I made my decision.”
The 31-year-old is also looking forward to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Chenaab Gandhi’ in which she plays Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter.
After receiving flak for doing glamorous roles, Vidya has moved to author-backed characters in ‘Paa’, ‘Chenaab Gandhi’ and ‘Ishqiya’. But she says her choice of roles is not a conscious effort to change her image.
“It’s not a conscious decision to try and stay away from a particular kind of roles. There is no effort for an image change. It’s just that I’m just being offered a lot of exciting work and I’ve tried to pick and choose different things to keep it very exciting for me,” she said.
“Of course, candyfloss is still welcome if it comes with substance, but the very fact that it’s candyfloss takes away the substance. So I don’t do that much candyfloss because it compromises on substance,” added the actress.
Vidya has earlier been seen in films like ‘Parineeta’, ‘Heyy Babyy’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Kismat Konnection’.

Hrithik is fed-up of his beard and can’t wait to finish shooting for Guzaarish
Although it has been a while since Hrithik Roshan has grown a beard for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, he is getting antsy as he can’t shave it off till he is shooting for the film.
Those close to Hrithik know that he abhors growing a beard, which is precisely why he used a fake one for Kites. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t allowed to use a fake beard in Guzaarish. As a result, he wants to complete the film’s shooting as soon as possible, much as he likes working with Bhansali.
A source said, “Hrithik has never liked sporting a beard. Give him his clean-shaven look any day. He is getting quite restless and has been telling his friends that he can’t wait to shave off the beard even though some of his friends complimented him on his new look. He agreed to grow it only because it is a Bhansali film.”
“Despite his discomfort, Hrithik is happy that he gave bulk dates for Guzaarish and one of its key schedules is currently on at Mehboob Studios. The film shooting should be complete by the end of this year,” added the source.
Hrithik Roshan was unavailable for comment.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to be demanding director, but he gives credit where it’s due. According to an eye-witness Hrithik had to recently deliver a five-and-a-half minute-long monologue while shooting for a crucial turning point scene in Guzaarish
It had been broken up into three parts to ease the pressure on Hrithik. As the star launched into it, Bhansali was ready to call for a cut after two minutes. To his astonishment, Hrithik did not stop and delivered the entire monologue in one fluid take.

This amazed not only the entire crew, but the director as well. The monologue has Hrithik remembering a woman from his past, before he becomes wheelchair-bound. The intensity stunned everyone on the sets, as it was obvious that Hrithik had worked hard to memorise the part and rehearse it before reaching the sets. Bhansali walked up to the actor and said, ‘What can I say?’
A wary Hrithik thought that he had messed up. Bhansali then gave him the greatest compliment an actor can hope to hear from his director. He said to Hrithik, ‘You are in Bachchan’s league.’ Remember Amitabh Bachchan’s monologue in the climax of Baghban?
This is indeed an accomplishment for a man who used to stammer. Hrithik’s speech problem is known, but he did not let that deter him from delivering the extraordinarily lengthy monologue without fumbling.
