HOTTIE: Sherlyn Chopra.
Firecracker Sherlyn Chopra on her exclusive agreement with the Times, movies and more

REAGAN GAVIN RASQUINHA Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; September 21, 2009)

Sherlyn the free spirit, Sherlyn the daring, Sherlyn the utterly gorgeous… Many epithets have been used to describe this vivacious, lusty, full-bodied and bodacious woman. There’s now a lot that’s happening for her but when she sits down to reflect, she sees herself as a “girl next door with big dreams”.

“Very big dreams,” she says, continuing, “I believe in the Almighty God who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly far more and above what I can ever dare to hope, ask or dream. I think of myself as competent enough to compete with the best.” She admits to a past she’d like to put behind.“Earlier, I lived in the world of mediocrity. But today, I value excellence and choose to associate with people who pursue it.”

And while she’s building her body of work, there has been talk as well about her body. To be specific, her breasts. Sherlyn is outspoken about her body, and the decision to get them surgically enhanced must have been a tough one. “Earlier, I felt like a boy. Not any more. Thanks to breast implants. I speak about my breasts only upon being asked. I find ‘No Comments’ a very uninteresting way to respond to a question.” That’s right, Sherlyn is nothing if not outspoken. This, coming from a woman who once said, ‘Arrogance in moderation does wonders to one’s personality’. “Yes, arrogance in moderation can help an individual become super-confident.The apprehensions, doubts and fears tend to take a backseat,” continues Miss Super-Confident whose positive mantras are available on itimes.com where you will also find exclusive pictures, videos and blogs by Sherlyn.

Since it’s clear that Internet is the way of the future, she has entered into an exclusive agreement with Times Internet Limited (TIL). Under this, exclusive rights of all her mobile content lie with TIL, specifically to be provisioned by Indiatimes 58888, on SMS, WAP, Voice and all operator platforms. “It’s a great honour! With most actresses shedding their inhibitions, there is a lot of competition on the Internet. And I love it. It compels me to redefine excellence,” she says.
Here’s how you can keep track of what Sherlyn’s upto: get her mobile downloads, send messages or listen to her thoughts, by just calling 58888799 or SMS SHERLYN to 58888.

Meanwhile, she’s a bit nervous about what’s happening on the movie front. “That’s a question I dread the most. I’m thrilled that Dil Bole Hadippa! has released. I play a UK-based super model who’s smitten by an Indian cricketer played by Shahid Kapoor,” she says. Incidentally, ace Bollywood stylist Manish Malhotra has given Sherlyn her high-fashion look for Dil Bole Hadippa!. Supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell were chosen as references for it. Far from the regular glamourous look, this one addresses everything from the layering of fabrics to accessorising them, the handbags, footwear, gadgets… everything about Sherlyn in the film is high fashion. Check it out, and if you want to be like her, join Sherlyn’s Platinum Club and get her exclusive personal merchandise. Just point your browser to shopping.indiatimes.com/sherlyn. She’s confident of a good innings in Bollywood. “I’m chasing a few A-league directors. Farah Khan is one of them. So far, she has been very, very sweet,” adds Sherlyn.

Beyond sweetness and light, Sherlyn confirms that as before, she will never hesitate to flaunt the raunch. “As long as my body is beautiful and well-toned, I would love to flaunt my curves whether or not the script demands. I love my detractors. They provoke me to pursue what seems impossible in the natural realm. I don’t want them to change. Should I move on from my Dard-e-Sherlyn and Outrageous days? Do you really want me to,” she asks, rhetorically.

rannMumbai: Actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has revealed that she experienced the casting couch while struggling to get a break in Bollywood.

The actor says that though she managed to escape, the incident left a scar. Suchitra, the former wife of noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, made her debut in 1994 with Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. She described the “scary’’ incident in her blog, which occurred when she was still in her teens trying to make a career in the film industry.

“I remember many years ago, I had gone to meet a very successful producer about a film role at a plush suburban hotel. They were looking for a new face to launch,’’ the actor wrote. After a discussion about academics, family and work experience, the producer asked Suchitra to call her father to tell him that she was spending the night with him at the hotel and that he should pick her up in the morning, the actor said in her blog. Zeenat Aman and Kabir Bedi play a couple in Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyun, working together after 38 years
By Ashwini Deshmukh (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 03, 2009)
Zeenat Aman and Kabir Bedi, who were paired opposite each other in a sizzling soap ad in the 1970s and later in 1971 in the film Hulchul are now back together on the big screen after 38 years. They will be seen romancing each other in Sanjay Sharma’s film Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyun.

A source says, “Zeenat plays a catholic while Kabir plays her husband, who abandons her and their son, only to return in her life after 20 years. That’s when their romance blossoms. It’s a mature love story.”

Kabir Bedi

Commenting on the Zeenat-Kabir reunion, a source said, “On the first day of the shoot at Ajmera House in Yari Road, when Zeenat met Kabir, she exclaimed, ‘Is this Kabir?’ And Kabir joked, ‘In the film we are meeting after 20 years but in real life we are meeting after 40 years.’ Zeenat joked and told Kabir, ‘Don’t be so loud, the youngsters around might just calculate our age.’”

Director Sanjay Sharma confirmed the news and said, “We didn’t want to cast a regular couple. We were sure that only Zeenatji could effortlessly play Rebecca and we wanted someone handsome and stylish opposite her. I remember the commercial they had done years ago and thought it would be great to bring them together in my film”

Kabir said, “I was initially a bit apprehensive about starring in the film. We hardly have defined roles for senior actors but I think times have changed. This is my first emotional role. I play Peter who is someone one can love and hate at the same time. I am also glad that I am working opposite Zeenat.”

After the great Salman-Shah Rukh fallout, the warring Khans will finally be seen together in a forthcoming reality show. When powerful common friends failed to broker peace, will a reality show do the trick?
By Ruhail Amin (MUMBAI MIRROR; September 03, 2009)
When Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan fell out during Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash last year, it was an outright war. It put the industry in an uncomfortable position, where people were forced to take sides. Very few managed the tightrope walk and maintained their relationship with both the warring Khans. Now, the possibility that the industry can breathe a sigh of relief is imminent as SRK and Salman will be seen on a reality show together.

The fallout over certain remarks about Salman’s ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai, was very public and it led to the Khans taking potshots at each other at every given opportunity. Recently, Salman said that Shah Rukh used to be nice, but now is he is insecure. In the past, Salman has also claimed that SRK was jealous because his show, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?, was a flop, while Dus Ka Dum was very popular. Salman also pooh-poohed SRK’s US detention ordeal recently. And these are just a few instances.

Though stars like Rani Mukerji and Farah Khan have tried to play peacemaker between the two proud Khans, finally it may take a reality show where the stars are paid hefty sums to appear on the same platform. The reality show is called Dance Premier League and has participants from different zones battling it out with each other. Stars will cheer their teams and if Salman and SRK’s team clash, of course, both stars will have to come face to face. Though the makers of the show are trying to keep the names of Bollywood participants under wraps, Mirror has learned that SRK and Salman have already been approached to be part of this show.

Danish Khan, VP Marketing, Sony, says, “It’s too early to talk about specific stars. We have approached many actors and are still deciding on the names.” When asked about SRK and Salman specifically, he does not deny their involvement and says, “I can’t comment at this stage. It’s better if you wait for a formal announcement.”

But our source confirms, “SRK and Salman have been approached already. Katrina, Bipasha, Kareena and Prabhudeva will be the other participants in the show.”

Katrina, though, denies it. She says, “I have not been approached for any reality show.”

Though the channel might chooses to be tight-lipped about this new development, we are surely looking forward to the fireworks.

Director Rakeysh Mehra changed the beginning and end of the film before sending it to Venice film festival

Does director Rakeysh Mehra feel the quick-fix revive-the-hero ending became the undoing of Delhi- 6? Yes, he does.

Without anyone’s knowledge, he re-edited the film, restored  the original  ending, and submitted it to the Venice Film Festival. And, it got selected.

Loved it

Venice Calling: A still from Abhishek-Sonam starrer Delhi-6

Says Rakeysh,  “On Thursday night, I got an e-mail informing me that Delhi-6 has been selected for the Venice Film Festival.

They loved the film and it will be screened on either September 2 or 3. I sent them a new version of Delhi-6 based on my original script.

I had to do this, otherwise, I wouldn’t have died in peace.”

Apparently, Rakeysh had been forced to incorporate a happy ending to accommodate distributors.

He admits he wasn’t happy with the ending.

“Now, I’ve a new beginning and end. I  intended the film to end with  the death of Abhishek’s character.

People were genuinely confused by some aspects of the film like the mirror as a metaphor for looking within, the kala bandar metaphor.

The joy of being selected for Venice has washed away all wrongs in the script,” he says.

“Sometimes in life you do lose track of the destintation during the journey.

But three months after the film’s release, I have re-shot and re-edited the ending,” he adds.  Now he wants Indian audiences to see the changed Delhi-6.

“It’s the director’s cut, like Francis Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, which didn’t make sense the first time.

It made history after the changes. We shouldn’t have been in a hurry to release a film, which tries a new grammar and idiom.”

Sighs Rakeysh, “I’ve grown wiser now. I’m happy I’ve gone for the sad ending in Delhi-6.

This  is a creative correction  that has made me sleep easier.”
