MUMBAI MIRROR (December 30, 2009)

Kareena Kapoor will star in Golmaal 3. Apparently, director Rohit Shetty was asked to make sure that Kareena is the solo heroine in the film, as she is not keen on multiple-heroine projects. Rohit says, “Kareena will be the only female lead along with the five boys; Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi and Shreyas Talpade. However, she will not be the romantic interest of any of the heroes.

In fact Kareena will be the one of the heroes – the sixth hero! I have also made sure Golmaal 3 is far more family-oriented. The boys’ jokes in Golmaal Returns won’t return.” The film’s shooting begins in April 2010. –Subhash K Jha

High-adrenaline action flick and Nicolas Cage-Angelina Jolie-starrer Gone In Sixty Seconds went on to become a big hit worldwide following its release in 2000. A decade later the film is still high on recall because of its high-speed car chases.

The Indian version will be changed to suit the Indian sensibilities. It will have drama and songs. Yusuf Khan who made Khel (2003) directs the remake. The film will have Sunil Shetty playing Nicolas Cage’s role. Shreyas Talpade and newbie Rehaan Khan form the rest of the cast.

Producer Sanjay Ahluwalia says, “Right now, I can’t say anything about the film. It is on hold for some time now.”

Gone In 60 Seconds
Randall “Memphis” Raines (Nicolas Cage) retired from the business of grand theft auto in 1994. Six years on, he is forced to return when his brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) falls foul of a Russian crimelord when he defaults on a delivery of stolen cars. The only way out? Steal 50 cars in one night dodging cops hot on their trail.

Sanjay Dutt agrees to star in Golmaal 3, which will feature almost all the stars from the earlier two films

Sanjay Dutt

After his recent success with All The Best, director Rohit Shetty is set to start Golmaal 3. Although Rohit is still finalising the film’s script, its star cast is already in place with Sanjay Dutt being the new entrant in the series. Sanjay, apparently, has agreed to be a part of the multi-starrer.

A source reveals, “Rohit and Ajay Devgan mutually decided to first go ahead with Golmaal 3. The male actors in the film will be more or less the same as the earlier two Golmaal films with Ajay, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, though Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi will not be a part of it. Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Mugdha Godse are also being considered to star in Golmaal 3.”

“The film will go on the floors in April next year and the actors have been asked to give the required dates. The film will be shot at an international location,” adds the source.

Rohit says, “I’m still in the scripting process. Nothing has been finalised yet. Once my script is ready, we will proceed with the rest of the work.”

When asked about Sanjay also being a part of the film, he says, “How many stars are you going to give me? That’s too big a star cast. I can’t have 12-14 stars in my film. That Sanjay is now part of the film is not true. Once I finish the script, we will make an announcement.”

The official spokesperson from producers Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision says, “Golmaal 3 is still in the planning stage. We aim to start the shooting in March.”

Till a few years ago, if a director or writer would tell you that the object of attention in his story is a pistol and how the entire film would revolve around it, you’d laugh, even scoff at, on his face. Is he out of his mind? But times have changed. Wacky concepts are the order of the day. Last week, QUICK GUN MURUGUN depicted one. This Friday, it’s AAGEY SE RIGHT.

AAGEY SE RIGHT is witty and humorous in parts, but at the same time, the story is so fragile that it runs out of breath when stretched for 2 long hours.

BY BOLLYWOOD HUNGAMA.COM

Had debutante director Indrajit Nattoji concentrated on just two characters – the cop who loses his gun and the terrorist who loses his heart – instead of focussing on the assorted characters, this one would’ve been one helluva ride.

// <![CDATA[//

Final word? AAGEY SE RIGHT doesn’t get it right.

AAGEY SE RIGHT tells the story of a cop [Shreyas Talpade] and terrorist [Kay Kay Menon]. Through a series of events not in their control, the cop loses his gun and the terrorist loses his heart. Their two worlds collide…

To start with, the screenplay doesn’t do justice to the wild and imaginative story. In fact, the writing has loopholes aplenty. To cite an instance, Vjay Maurya is supposed to be the front man of the terrorists in Mumbai, but when Kay Kay has a change of heart, so does he. Strange, isn’t it? Ditto for Shehnaz Treasurywala, who dances in a sleazy bar, is later visiting studios for film assignments and much later, also dances at the police function [in the finale]. Even Kay Kay’s part suffers due to poor writing. His change of heart looks weird.

Barring Shreyas, Mahi Gill [television reporter] and Bharti Achrekar [Shreyas’ mom], the characters are not well defined.

Director Indrajit Nattoji has a wacky sense of humour and it shows in the film, but he’s been unsuccessful as far as the writing is concerned. The songs don’t serve any purpose either.

Shreyas Talpade does a commendable job. In fact, his comic timing is impeccable. Kay Kay Menon is wasted. Vijay Maurya delivers a superior performance. Mahi Gill is perfect. Shehnaz Treasurywala can’t act. Shiv Pandit irritates. Ditto for Shruti Seth. Rakesh Bedi is funny in a small role. Bharti Achrekar is excellent.

On the whole, AAGEY SE RIGHT has a few funny moments, but overall, this one doesn’t go left or right, but directionless.

The producers of Aage se Right wanted to run a promotional campaign in which the winner would get a real gun. The censor board and the police were not amused
By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; July 24, 2009)

The contest’s poster

UTV’s forthcoming film, Aage Se Right has been shot down by the censor board even before the release. A particular gun is an essential part of the film. So, the producers along with the marketing and promotion team, decided to weave the film’s campaign around the gun. They planned a contest where the winner would be awarded a real gun.

Just when they were about to launch the campaign, they received a notice from the police authorities and the censor board. The notice forbade the producers from going ahead with the campaign and giving out a real gun as a prize. Our source said, “The authorities felt that the use of guns was being promoted. What if the gun fell into the wrong hands? We live in sensitive times and something like this could be misused. So, an online contest will replace the television contest.”

Moreover, the campaign had to be drastically toned down as UTV’s Vice President, marketing, Shikha Kapur, said, “We are extremely disappointed about the concept being vetoed by the authorities. We had to rewrite the entire concept. Now we have to give air pistols instead of real guns.”

Aage Se Right stars Kay Kay Menon, Shreyas Talpade, Shehnaz Treasurywala and Mahie Gill.
