Judwaa sequel being planned

Salman Khan is finally ready to play the quirky Raja and the sober Prem in the sequel to his 1997 hit Judwaa. The actor has given his nod to team up once again with director David Dhawan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for the sequel to the twin-comedy only after he was completely convinced with the script.
So far the idea of a sequel to Judwaa had been quelled mainly because the story ideas did not appeal to Salman. Now, David has finally come up with an idea that the team feels is worth pursuing.
Producer Sajid says, “We’ve been going back and forth with David on the story of Judwaa’s sequel for years. Since Judwaa released there have been innumerable films about twins and their adventures, so films about twin heroes had become stale. Before making Judwaa 2 we first had to make sure the plot not only went further than the first Judwaa but also goes beyond all the other double-role films that have come lately.”
Fact of the matter is that double roles have not been doing well lately. Sajid says, “We’ve gone back to the story board repeatedly to ensure Judwaa has very high novelty value.”
“David is working on giving Salman’s character a special new spin. We’ll give the two Salmans a very different look and the story moves ten years ahead but Salman is still as boyish as he used to be,” adds Sajid.

Judwaa 2 won’t feature either Karisma Kapoor or Rambha who were lead actresses in the first film.
But yes, Kareena Kapoor is being considered to star in the sequel.
About Judwaa
Directed by David Dhawan, Judwaa is about identical twins (Salman Khan) who get separated at birth. The quiet and mature Prem, one of the twins, and his father visit India to get Prem married to Mala (Karisma Kapoor).
Prem also meets his twin brother in India and a series of comic situations follow. The highlight of the film was Anu Malik’s music especially the songs Chalti hai kya nau se baraah and Unchi hai building lift teri bandh hai, which were an instant hit and are popular even today.
Sallu-David: Partners no more?

Over the years, Salman Khan and David Dhawan have been known as one of the most successful actor-director jodis in Bollywood. Together they have given hits such as Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Biwi No 1 and Judwaa.
However, some cracks have appeared in their relationship. Buzz is that Salman has refused to let producer Sajid Nadiadwala get David to direct the remake of the South film Kick, titled Sanki in Hindi, starring him in the main lead.
A source reveals, “Sajid has got the rights of the Telugu super hit Kick and has finalised Salman to star in it. Sajid spoke to David Dhawan to direct the film but when Salman heard that David was being considered, he flatly refused to be a part of Sajid’s film. He is not keen to work with David and wants somebody else to direct the remake.”
The source continues, “Salman is upset with David for several reasons. He really wanted Partner 2 to take off soon but there is no sign of the film from David’s end. On the contrary, David went ahead to direct Hook Ya Crook with John Abraham, who Salman can’t stand.”
Sajid Nadiadwala says, “I acquired the rights of the film a month back. Salman will be playing the lead. I am still in the scripting process and have yet to finalise other details.”
When asked if David will direct the remake, Sajid says, “I haven’t finalised anything. David is obviously the first name that comes to mind but I haven’t spoken to him as such.” When asked about Salman refusing to have David on board, Sajid says, “I don’t speak to Salman about my directors. It is untrue and purely a rumour. David and Salman are a winning jodi and have given so many hits together. David is a veteran director and it is in bad taste if someone says that they are having problems.”David says, “Sajid hasn’t mentioned anything about directing any film.” When asked about Salman not wanting to work with him and wanting some other director instead, David says, “I haven’t even received a call from Sajid about this. It’s best if you speak to Sajid to get all the information.”

One year ago, phone lines in the country got jammed with the buzz that Southern sensation Rambha had committed suicide. BT is happy to lay that rumour to rest. Not only was it a false alarm — Rambha was hospitalised after fasting for a religious occasion and fainting, but the oomphy actresss is making a rumba-licious comeback to Bollywood in the quirky cowboy film Quickgun Murugan that’s being co-produced by a major Hollywood studio!
Rambha, who acted opposite Salman Khan in Judwaa, with Anil Kapoor in Gharwali Baharwali and Govinda in Beti No 1, is back with added cleavage. She plays a sultry seductress called Mango Dolly who is charmed by the vegetarian cowboy. Named after a particular flavour of an ice cream, Mango Dolly is a nightclub singer and the ultimate male fantasy. Volouptous, helpful, and good-natured, she longs for love more than anything else. Lip-smackin’ enough?

Ordinarily, the advance booking for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq would have opened today. But the filmmaker, who believes that an outand-out entertainer made with conviction will always generate euphoria amongst viewers, had the booking office windows thrown open on Sunday itself. The result? Serpentine queues at multiplexes. It was as if the film by Eros International had taken Bollywood back to the 70s and 80s, when fanatical film buffs would excitedly crowd around the ticket window waiting for the counter to open.
A trade analyst called up Nadiadwala within an hour on Sunday of the booking opening, to complain that he couldn’t get tickets… all shows for the entire weekend were sold out at the PVR cinema, Juhu. “That,” chuckled a delighted Nadiadwala whose brand of cinema has mastered the art of catering to popular palates, “was expected.” Perhaps it was, because the hype surrounding this film since the day it was launched has been unprecedented in Bollywood.
Consider what audiences have to look forward to: Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor on screen, both sizzling hot entertainers, and this time kissing as well; Akshay’s stunts and Kareena’s oomph; the God-like presence and action of Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone; the roles of Brandon ‘Superman’ Routh and former Bond girl Denise Richards (whom also Akshay gets to kiss, lucky man!), the chartbusting music…
Added to this hype was the sixweek long wait caused by the producers versus multiplexes strike. And you have audiences thirsting for a real entertainer after this drought-like situation. Nadiadwala, whose earlier releases include hits like Jeet, Judwaa, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Heyy Babyy, has always gone beyond past achievements. “The audience expects this. After all, they too are growing with time and technology. I feel only if we respect our audience’s expectations to be entertained convincingly, can we connect with them completely in the cinema halls.”
And so, Kambakkht Ishq opens on 2,030 screens worldwide this Friday, July 3. That is almost 20 per cent more than the screens that played Ghajini. Trade pundits calculate that even at an average of Rs 5 lakh per cinema collections, the film has the potential to gross more than Rs 100 crores worldwide in its very first week. That’s a kambakkht hit!
