THREE’S COMPANY: Sushmita Sen, Shah Rukh Khan and Fardeen Khan in a still from Dulha Mil Gaya
With SRK and Sushmita Sen teaming up again

BINA TRIVEDI Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; January 2, 2010)

Sweeping aside the sceptics, Mudassar Aziz’s Dulha Mil Gaya — a comic caper shot for the most part in the Caribbean Islands, is slated for a mammoth release worldwide on January 8.
The film’s leading lady Sushmita Sen says DMG is a passionately told story and it has a delightful plot line. For her fans it is important because she teams up with Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan after their last super-hit
Main Hoon Na.
SRK has a pivotal role as Raj, while the film’s leading man Fardeen Khan (playing Shashank) has his own share of fun and romance.
It is now official that PVR has tied up to distribute this magnum opus through their network in Delhi, UP, East Punjab and Mysore. Morpheus Media Ventures, the films presenters, and Viveck Vaswani are gung-ho about their PVR tie-up. And the film will have a colossal release in terms of prints across the globe.
The title track of DMG is already a hit this wedding season with “baraats” all over blasting it. And for some live publicity action, on January 3, Fardeen will even dress in his bride-groom gear and drive in a chariot to a Mumbai mall to claim his bride Isshita Sharma.
What’s more, Bollywood Hungama has registered in excess of 1,75,000 hits on Dulha Mil Gaya’s theatrical trailer (more than any other forthcoming film), in less than one month. “I’m elated,” says writer-director Mudassar Aziz, “we made this music and this film only to entertain our audiences, them enjoying it leaves me gratified.”
“It has been a long but exhilarating journey. It’s been the best example of teamwork that I have ever seen. The unit stuck together through thick and thin. The scale of the film has to be seen to be believed,” said Viveck Vaswani, the producer.
Big B, SRK among several who catch Avatar premiere in Mumbai…

A lot of films try to lay claim to the old ‘most anticipated film of the year’ tag, but on Tuesday night, it was clear that Avatar was indeed the biggest Hollywood film of the year amongst Bollywood’s celebrity film buffs; it brought the Bachchans and the Khans onto the same blue carpet in a premiere rivalling the big Bollywood premieres. After 14 years of incubating in director James Cameron’s brain, Avatar, the once-ultrasecret project known as ‘Project 800’, finally premiered to an enraptured and appreciative Bollywood crowd. But before the 160-minute-long saga of 10-foot-tall blue aliens on a distant moon called Pandora began, the blue carpet was walked by larger than life superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Yash Chopra, Gurinder Chadha, Harman Baweja, Vivek Oberoi, Ram Gopal Verma, Rohan Sippy, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Anthony D’Souza, Rohit Shetty, Shirish Kunder, Tisca Chopra to name a few.

At the end of the film, as the news channels spoke to the guests leaving, some admitted to tears, many felt it would be difficult to watch “normal movies again” and most were ready to take another trip to Pandora right then and there. Networking sites were instantly flooded with more gushing praise.

Aryan had his school exams and couldn’t make it, but Shah Rukh Khan was so amazed by the experience that arranged a screening for his family and friends over the weekend. … Hrithik, who was stuck at the shooting of Guzaarish and couldn’t make it in time to the venue, is also looking to have a private screening of the film. Amitabh Bachchan told the media “It was a fabulous film, a wonderful experience!” Abhishek, who was not scheduled to come as he had to walk the ramp the same evening in the suburbs, rushed just in time to catch the film. He posted his views on a site soon after “It’s not a film. It’s an experience! James Cameron is Hollywood’s answer to my favourite director, Manmohan Desai! He could pull off anything. Avatar too is a Hindi film at heart. It’s definitely a ‘must watch’ for the experience.”

Rohan Sippy, who had seen a trade show just the previous day, loved the film so much he came to see a second screening and plans to see the film over the weekend, again. He said, “With Avatar, James Cameron has redefined what we can dream. It is a film of breathtaking scale and impossibly meticulous detail. But I think his real triumph is that he has used his total mastery over technology to make us really feel what it is to be alive and human…” Ajay Devgn and Kajol have also requested for a screening of the film for their family and close friends after hearing the premiere buzz from others. While Vivek Oberoi said, “It’s really amazing that the west can come up with films like this. I would’ve loved an Indian director to make a film like Avatar. It’s simply astounding!” “I saw Avatar in 3D. To say the least, it made me feel pre-historic in every way,” says Varma. Director Ken Ghosh, Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan have also planned to block an evening entire show at a suburban multiplex for a private screening for friends and family. Looks like the general public might not get tickets for the film after all, looking at the number of private screenings and shows being blocked by the Bollywood fraternity itself. The premiere was hosted by Vijay Singh, CEO 20th Century Fox India and Big Cinemas.
On her birthday, Sushmita Sen’s boyfriend Mudassar Aziz gave her a specially made six-minute DVD, which captured her various moods

By Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; November 21, 2009)

Thanks to her boyfriend Mudassar Aziz, Sushmita Sen will not forget her 34th birthday, which she celebrated on Thursday (November 19), for a long time.
He gifted Sushmita a specially made DVD capturing her various moods, which he had shot during the making of Dulha Mil Gaya.
A source says, “Mudassar, who is also the director of the film, wanted to make Sushmita’s birthday an unforgettable event. He compiled various moods of the actress during the making of the film. He began working on the six-minute DVD a week before her birthday. Sushmita was bowled over by his thoughtfulness. She loved the fact that Mudassar had invested so much time and energy to gift her something unique. The DVD also contains shots of her co-stars, Shah Rukh and Fardeen, during the shooting of the film. Mudassar also gifted Sushmita a huge birthday card and a bottle of Dom Perignon, her favourite champagne.”

LAUGH OUT LOUD: Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu and Sanjay Dutt pose with fans who have loved watching their film

Audiences, Bollywood stars and trade analysts, say Ajay Devgn gave them ‘best’ gift of all for Diwali

Ajay Devgn kept his promise. His film All the Best — Fun Begins… directed by Rohit Shetty, is as fine a Diwali gift to cinegoers as it may get. Slowly, it has picked up steam at the box office and is now laughing its way to the bank. Literally!

“The film didn’t open big on Friday but on Sunday and Monday, it jumped by leaps and bounds — from 30 per cent to 95 per cent,” said trade analyst Amod Mehra. Indeed, because audiences everywhere are having a blast watching the comic timings of Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse, Fardeen Khan and Ajay. “It’s very refreshing. No number of stars given by critics can change the opinion of cinegoers. Once the public says a film’s a hit, then it’s a hit. This film picked up because of word-of-mouth publicity,” added trade analyst Komal Nahta.

Multiplexes are enjoying the post-Diwali ticket sales that this Ajay Devgn Ffilms’ release is fetching them. “On Tuesday, the film did better business than it did
on Sunday and Monday. The audience, just like me, was laughing its guts out,” said Ashish Saxena from Reliance BIG Pictures. Devang Sampat from Cinemax attributes the success to Ajay having picked the right script for the festive season. “It’s been a trend where people look for total entertainment during Diwali. They just want to have a good time… I’m expecting this film to do even better in the coming days,” he said.

Not strangely, film critics
have given good ratings to this one too. Even Bollywood stars, keeping their own films aside, have been entertained by this comedy. “It’s an honest entertainer and I laughed throughout. I felt happy after watching it,” said hunk John Abraham. Ditto was the reaction of the producer’s wife and beautiful actress Kajol. “I laughed, my daughter Nysa laughed and the whole theatre laughed. And that’s when Diwali started!” she said.
